Ice Hockey: SC Bern

SC Bern is one of Switzerland’s most traditional and successful ice hockey clubs, and for years has boasted the highest average spectator figures in Europe with an average of more than 16,000 spectators at every game.

Founded in 1931, SC Bern now plays in the modern PostFinance Arena. A bear, the city of Bern’s symbol, appears in the SC Bern club logo.

Visitors to Bern with a soft spot for ice hockey should not miss an opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere in this bubbling Bernese cauldron.

The National League A ice hockey season runs from September to April: each team plays 50 qualifying games by the end of February, and then from March onwards the top eight compete in the playoffs for the Swiss championship title.
