Bern and its bears
Are we like them, or is it the other way around?
Sociability, opportunism and intelligence are just a few noteworthy characteristics that describe the Bernese and their bears. According to legend, the “Mutz” (as the Bernese call their bear) gave the city its name and was also made its heraldic animal.
Everywhere you look in Bern, you’ll see bears cavorting around: as fountain figures, in clockwork shows, bears made of gingerbread or chocolate, and of course real bears in BearPark.
Join us on this “bear-y” interesting tour – and find out all about the symbol of our city. (Afterwards a delicious Bernese treat awaits you.)
